Bayelsa Deputy Speaker Loses To APC Candidate

The incumbent deputy speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Mr. Sam Ateki, has lost his bid to return to the House. Ateki lost to the All Progressives Congress candidate, Israel Goli, in the Brass Constituency election. So far, Ateki is the only PDP candidate to have lost the election. The PDP has won 13 out of the 14 House of Assembly election results declared so far in the state. In the summary of results signed by the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Mr. Baritor Kpagih, PDP candidates won in the following constituencies: Abraham Ingobere (Brass Constituency Three), Ololo Ben (Nembe Constituency One), Ingo Iwowari (Nembe Two), Obiene Iniyobiyo
(Nembe Three). Others are Mitema Obodor (Ogbia Constituency One), Naomi Ogoli (Ogbia Two), Salo Adikumo (Sagbama Three), Monday Obolo (Southern Ijaw Two), Daniel Igali (Southern Ijaw 3) and the Speaker of the House, Konbowei Benson (Southern Ijaw 4). The rest are Parkinson MacManuel (Yenagoa One), Mrs. Ebiuwou Obiyai (Yenagoa Two) and Gentle Emelah (Yenagoa Three). There was however no election in Brass Constituency Two due to the insistence of some youths to see the ward collation result sheets before accreditation. Also, the election in Ogbia Constituency Two was declared inconclusive. Election into eight constituencies was rescheduled for this Saturday.
