Brazilian Striker Brandao Jail for Head-Butting Thiago Motta

French club,Bastia striker Brandao on Thursday was found guilty of assaulting PSG defender Thiago Motta after the 34 year-old Brazilian head-butted the Italian in the tunnel when the teams clashed in a domestic league game day on August 16.
He has been sentenced to jail for one month and fined€20,000.
He however, may escape prison sentence if an agreement is reached that will see him undertake community service instead

ATV footage showed Brandao eagerly waiting for Motta to enter the tunnel, walk toward the former Barcelona man and then head-butting him
French prosecutors argued that Brandao, a former Marseille player should spend eight month in prison with a fine of€15,000for the pre-meditated nature of the action but Brandao’s defence lawyer, was able to argue out the intent, claiming that the head-butt was just an act on impulse to taunts made by Motta on the striker for a r**e allegation he was charged with back in 2012 and was later acquitted
Whether or not Brandao serves the one month jail sentence, he is going to see through the six-month ban placed on him by theFrench Ligue 1board and will only return to action in Februar 2015.
