Polls results: Ex-Gov Nnamani Leads Protest To Enugu INEC Hqtrs

Scores of upporters of the former governor of Enugu State, Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani, yesterday, trooped to the streets to protest Enugu East senatorial district result in which Gilbert Nnaji was declared the winner.As a result of the protest, there was traffic gridlock for several hours, especially on the Presidential Road, leading to the state headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, where the protesters, led by Nnamani himself, anchored. In the process of the peaceful march, security-men used tear gas to disperse them as they approached the INEC building.
However, the crowd later converged on nearby Okpara Square where Nnamani addressed them, appealing to them to remain calm as he would seek justice in accordance to the law. Also, yesterday, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress APC, addressed a press conference, calling for the cancellation of the Saturday’s elections in the state. Chairman of the part in the state, Dr. Ben Nwoye, said thugs were used to chase away the party’s agents. ‘’We were manhandled and as I speak the chairman of one of the wards is still missing sicne Saturday while in Udi, Pastor Ekwueme, our person was beaten to pulp and currently hospitalised.
