The Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed the killing of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairman in Ishielu local government area of the state, Mr. Emeka Nworie by unknown gunmen in his residence in the early hours of today. In a telephone interview with LEADERSHIP, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Chris Anyanwu stated that the Command was yet to be briefed on the matter, but noted that the Command had dispatched a team of police officers to investigate the matter. PPRO, who regretted the killing, said the police were yet to ascertain if the killing was politically motivated or not, assuring that that the killers would be apprehended and prosecuted. LEADERSHIP
further gathered that the late PDP chairman was attacked in his house in Nkomoro in Ishielu local government area and shot severally by his assailants. The hoodlums reportedly came to the deceased’s house at about 3am, demanded money and when he failed to give them, they shot him dead. Similarly, unconfirmed report also has it that another young man, Mr. Mike Ojor was also killed in Ikwo Nnoyo in Ikwo local government area.
