Offices In Aso Rock Shut Down, No Official Activities Happening


Daily Trust reports that hours after the announcement of the election results, official activities are yet to pick up at the Presidential Villa. It was said that the offices of Vice President, Mohammed Namadi Sambo and that of First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan were under lock and key as at the time of filing this report on Wednesday afternoon. Daily Trust correspondent reported that although President Jonathan was in his office, none of his ministers were seen at the State House, adding that the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting did not hold. It was further reported that many of the aides to Mr. President were also nowhere to be found at the seat of power. The only people sighted at the
State House comprised of Comptroller-General of Customs Dikko Inde Abdullah, Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) Emeka Ezeh, Executive Secretary of the National Christian Pilgrims Commission John Kennedy Opara as well as the Special Adviser to the President on Ethics and Values, Sarah Jubril. President Jonathan was officially elected President of Nigeria in 2011 after he had successfully completed the tenure of late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua. He attempted re-election into the number office in the just concluded presidential polls that was held on March 28, but lost to his major opponent, General Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC). Buhari, was declared the winner of March 28 presidential elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the early hours of  Wednesday, April 1, 2015. The electoral umpire said the former military head of state won the polls with 15,424,921 votes, or 53.95%, of the 28,587,564 total valid ballots cast. naij
