According to a statement made available to our correspondent on Sunday in Abeokuta, Eweje-Obasanjo, 76, died at on Tuesday in a private hospital in Ota, Ogun State, after a brief illness. Obasanjo broke the sad news when he hosted women leaders from the South-West at his residence in
Abeokuta on Sunday. The women were led by Iyalode of Yorubaland, Chief Alaba Lawson. The women leaders later prayed for the repose of the soul of the departed and for God to give the Obasanjo family the fortitude to bear the loss. The cleric and members of the Christ Chapel of the Glorious King, the church where Obasanjo worships, also visited the former President to commiserate with him. One of Madam Eweje’s daughters, Titi, who spoke with journalists, said burial arrangements would be announced later.
