Customs Officers Beat Up 8 Federal Airport Workers At Lagos Airport
Another set of workers of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) were on Wednesday given the beatings of their lives for insisting that rules guiding movements at the airport be obeyed. The eight officers, who belonged to the Aviation Security department of FAAN, ran into trouble for refusing to allow some customs officials access a restricted area without the required On Duty Card (ODC). According to sources in FAAN, while the customs officials attempted to enter a restricted
part of the international airport, the security officials told them that they could only have access to the place with the approved reflective jackets and ODC cards. Rather than comply, the customs officials threw caution to the winds as they descended on the security men and beat them. The customs officials did not even spare the females among the officials as they were not only rough-handled, but also had their phones seized. When aviation journalists visited the clinic at the airport, three of the officials were on the hospital bed. The other five were given treatment and discharged. Speaking on the incident, a deputy controller of customs, Musa Ahmed, described the development as unfortunate, as he promised that if the officers involved were found guilty, they would be made to face the law.
