  • N500m Scam: Sack Okiro Now, PSC Official Tells Buhari
The Principal Administrative Officer, Police Service Commission (PSC), Aaron Kaase, has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to sack the Chairman of the Commission, Mike Okiro, over alleged N500 million scam. Kaase in an open letter to Buhari posted on an online news portal, said that as a fall-out to his letters accusing Okiro of fraud and gross corruption, the PSC chairman has unleashed
the police on him and his colleague, Raymond Amase. He said: “On Tuesday and Thursday last week, we were guests of the police at the office of the Inspector-General of Police in Garki, Abuja, based on complaint by Okiro accusing us of allegedly leaking official information and defamation of his character”.   • FG, States, LGs Expenditure On GDP Grew By 42.81% In 2015 – NBS
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) yesterday puts the final expenditure on Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the three tiers of government at 42.81 per cent in the first quarter of the year. This development is contained in a statement made available in Abuja by the Statistician-General of the Federation, Dr Yemi Kale. Kale added that the figure was higher than the -7.53 per cent and 16.56 per cent recorded in the first and fourth quarters of 2014 respectively. According to the NBS, during the first quarter of the year, the general government final expenditure grew by 42.81 per cent year-on-year in real terms, higher than the -7.53 per cent in the first quarter of 2014.   • Ribadu, Mark clash over National Assembly budget
A former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,   Nuhu Ribadu and   the outgoing Senate President, David Mark, on Monday disagreed on the need for National Assembly to cut its budget in line with the current economic realities in the country. They spoke at a   retreat organised for the Peoples Democratic Party National Assembly members-elect in Port Harcourt, Rivers state. Ribadu had stirred up a hornet’s nest by calling on the lawmakers-elect to make their monthly salaries public and also cut their budgets. His call immediately attracted side talks by the participants which included   governors and the leadership of the PDP. Obviously aware that his advice was not being welcomed by majority of the lawmakers-elect, the former anti-corruption czar, reminded them that they would be going   to the National Assembly as the minority.   • Buhari, NSA meet over Boko Haram …President to visit Niger, Chad
President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday held a closed door meeting with the National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.). It was learnt that the meeting, which held at the Defence House, Abuja, was aimed at assessing the security situation in the country, against the backdrop of renewed attacks by the Boko Haram sect. It was gathered that the President was concerned about the renewed attacks by the sect and the duo discussed ways of checking the insurgents. Investigations also revealed that the meeting centred on ways of carrying out the President’s plan on the relocation of the military central command to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.Read More From Punch
Buhari, Osinbajo absent from Aso Rock on Monday
President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Monday failed to resume work at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. That would have been their first day in their respective offices having taken their oaths of office on Friday, a day declared as public holiday by the Federal Government. As early as 7am, workers of the Presidential Villa reported for duties in readiness to formally receive Buhari and Osinbajo. Read More From Punch
