Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Dave Umahi, has terminated the ongoing dualisation of a section of the Abakaliki–Enugu road on the grounds that the previous government did not obtain approval from the Federal Government before embarking on the project. According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Emma Anya, on Sunday, the Ebonyi governor expressed dissatisfaction with the state of infrastructure in the state. Umahi recently embarked on the inspection of projects started by the past government of Martins Elechi to ascertain their status. The statement
quoted Umahi as saying that he has, however, started negotiating with the World Bank, and Setraco, the company the Federal Government initially awarded the Abakaliki–Enugu road contract to, to complete its assignment. The statement said, “Governor Umahi said the termination of the Abakaliki–Enugu road contract was necessary because the state government did not obtain approval from the Federal Government, the owner of the road before embarking on the project.''Umahi, who also visited the Ebonyi Broadcasting Corporation, assured that his administration would do all within its powers to ensure that the station attained full digitisation. He disclosed that the government had acquired a loan for the Ebonyi Pipe Production Factory to enable it procure raw materials and urged the company to look for market for the supply of its products, while advising its management to be self sustaining.
