Police Arrest Three For Theft And Rape


The Kwara State Police commissioner, Mr. Salihu Garba said the command had arrested three male suspects for criminal conspiracy, house breaking, theft and rape. He identified the suspects as Rasaq Saka, Ajadi Seye and Bidemi Abdulmaleek. Speaking through the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Ajayi Okesanmi, Garba said the suspects broke into the house of one Alhaja Afusat Oloriegbe at Asa Dam area of Ilorin, on June 23, 2015 at about 1.45pm. He added that the suspects
carted away valuables and money. According to the CP, after robbing their victims, they dragged one of the victims (name withheld) into a nearby uncompleted building and they raped her. He said the suspects would be charged to court after the completion of investigation. But one of the suspects, Abdulmaleek, denied culpability in the alleged crimes. He stated that he was set up by his friends for his refusal to sell his BlackBerry mobile phone. He said after he had sold the mobile phone to another buyer, he even bought gifts for his friends from the proceeds. According to him, his friends later conspired and set him up for stealing a handset. Abdulmaleek, who said he worked at a quarry in Ogbomosho, Oyo State, denied raping anybody.
