Police Debunk Bomb Rumour In Nasarawa

The Police in Nasarawa on Friday said the loud sound heard in Lafia on Thursday was not a bomb explosion. Police Public Relations Officer in the State, ASP Numan Ismaila, told News Agency of Nigeria in Lafia that the sound came from bust tyre of a trailer. He confirmed that there was a lot of panic in the town but officers of the command immediately swung into action to ascertain where the sound came from. Ismaila, who said police have mapped out strategies to beef up security in all
nooks and crannies in the state, solicited support from members of the public. He appealed to residents of the state to avoid places that are overcrowded and be security conscious by reporting any abandoned vehicle or object that is suspicious. “We call on people not to panic. We urge them to continue with their lawful businesses,” he said. He also assured members of the public of their safety despite the security challenges experienced in some parts of the country. Ismaila warned people to desist from causing panic and engaging in rumour mongering. “Whatever the security agencies are doing, it is for the peace and security of people of Nasarawa State. “We should stop spreading unnecessary rumours that tend to create panic and apprehension,” he saidT
