I’ll Fortify APC In South East –Okorocha

Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha yesterday in Owerri reassured leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state that he would stop at nothing to make the party very strong in the entire South East. He also said APC would not only remain strong but also stay in power in the state for the next 24 years. The governor said the long postponed local government elections would be conducted as soon as court cases are over, adding that until that is done his government would continue to appoint transition committees to run the councils. He also said his government would
clear all outstanding salaries and sustain actions taken to sanitise the system, with workshops organised for party officials at all levels in the state to update them on what their role should be in the policy thrust of the administration. On the issue of political appointments, the governor said commissioners would soon be appointed and assured that the next four years of his administration would be worthy of celebration in the life of the state. “The Community Government Council, CGC, is to be re-structured to make it functional and more effective. We are also going to review the performances of the party in the booths at all levels during the last elections. “A committee would also be set up to look into cases or reports of party members or leaders who erred in one way or the other, especially during the elections. The party will look into the case of erring members,” he said. Deputy Chairman of the party in the state, Ugochukwu Nzekwe, told journalists at the end of the meeting that the party would work in tandem with the governor and the APC government in general to make progress, adding that the party would sustain the tempo it generated during the elections.
