Police Arrests 73-Year-Old Man Over Attempt To Rape His Nine Year Old Daughter

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 73-year-old man, Agidi Omolola, for attempting to defile his nine-year- old daughter (name withheld), in Ijare town, Ifedore local government area of the state. A source disclosed to Leadership that the suspect invited the victim into his room last week and reportedly removed her underwear, attempting to have canal knowledge of her. But he was
caught by the elder brother of the little girl who quickly raised an alarm. It was learnt that immediately the suspect was caught, the case was reported at the Ijare Police Station where a team of detectives was mobilised to the scene. The suspect, on his arrest was moved to the police station where he was interrogated and subsequently detained.While confirming the incident, the Ondo state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wole Ogodo, said the brother of the victim identified as Muyiwa was the one who saw the suspect while he was about defiling the innocent girl. Ogodo disclosed that immediately the suspect was caught, he quickly rushed inside the house and drank a substance suspected to be chemical before the arrival of police. He explained further that when the suspect got to the police station, having taken a poisonous substance, he was said to be writhing in pains and was subsequently rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment. Ogodo, who described the incident as unfortunate, advised parents and guardians to take care of their children, warned randy men to be careful or be ready to face full wrath of the law.
