Police Shoot One, Arrest 47 As MASSOB Marks 16 Years Anniversary


Police in Anambra state has shot one and arrested 47 members of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB were marking their 16 years. Anniversary clashed with the police and no fewer than 25 members of the MASSOB were arrested, while one was shot by the
police and other security operatives at the various churches in the state. At about 11am Sunday, Vanguard sighted unusual movement of about 38 Police, Army and Navy vehicles with one Personnel Armored Carrier in a long cue along Patrolling the Onitsha Owerri Expressway. At St Charles Lwanga Catholic Church Okpoko,18 MASSOB members were said to have been arrested and one shot, while those that were not arrested continued with the thanks-giving church service. At Iba Pope Catholic Church, Awada, 11 members of MASSOB were equally reported to have been arrested by the police who were said to have laid ambush on the MASSOB members who were said to have gone to worship with their uniforms at the church.
