Ahmed Swears In Ten Commissioners

Ten commissioners, who were recently screened and approved by Kwara State House of Assembly, were yesterday sworn in by Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.Nine others, who were nominated and forwarded by the governor to the House last week, are awaiting approval.Speaking at the swearing-in,
which attracted large turnout of All Progressives Congress, APC, members, families and well-wishers of the new cabinet members, Ahmed charged them to know that their appointments
were based on their “wealth of knowledge, professionalism, and experience,” which they should bring to bear in actualising the government’s aspirations for the state. The governor charged the new commissioners to know that their positions came with great responsibilities that required them to serve the best interests of Kwara people with diligence and integrity. On why the swearing in is in batches, Ahmed said: “In view of the urgent need to get on with the business of governance, we have decided to swear-in the first set of commissioners today. The remaining nine commissioner-nominees would be sworn-in once they are confirmed by the Kwara State House of Assembly.”He said despite the financial constraint facing Nigeria, “We must not fail our people. They have played their part in the quest for change by voting for our party and its candidates. We must play ours by creating opportunities and conditions for our people to prosper and our state to develop.“Now is the time for us to perform our obligations to the people by providing social and economic development that positively transforms our state and improves their lives. Without delay, therefore, I expect you to key into the Shared Prosperity Programme of this administration.”The new commissioners are Demola Banu Nurudeen (Finance); Bolakale Ayo Nuhu (Youth and Sports); Kamaldeen Ajibade Adeyemi (Attorney-General and Justice Commissioner); and Engr. Musa Ayinla Yeketi (Education).Others are Hajia Funmilayo Oniwa (Industry and Solid Minerals); Engr. Idris Garba (Energy); Abdulrasaq Akorede (Water); Mahmud Ajeigbe (Information); Aro Yahaya Jamiudeen (Works); and Otunba Taiwo Joseph (Environment).
