BVN: 500 A-Ibom Civil Servants, Pensioners Excluded From Payroll

Over 500 civil servants and pensioners with Bank Verification Number, BVN-related problems in Akwa Ibom State have been excluded from the payroll of the state pending their appearance before

 the BVN verification committee for screening. Gov Emmanuel UdomGov Emmanuel Udom State Commissioner for Finance, Akan Okon, made the disclosed, yesterday, in his office in Uyo while
receiving the report of the first batch of the BVN screening exercise presented by the Chairman of the Standing BVN Verification Committee, Mrs. Eme-Ette Imuk. The commissioner said the deployment of BVN as a yardstick for payment of salaries and pensions in the state became necessary to effectively deal with high-level of irregularities in the payroll system. He announced that the verification exercise would be a continuous one to safeguard the payroll system from sharp practices and ensure funds were paid to bonafide workers.
