Oscar Pistorius has been sentenced to six years in jail for murdering his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.In reading out her sentencing, Judge Thokozile Masipa said she would consider a variety

of factors, including the interests of society and those of the victims, as well as themes of crime deterrence and rehabilitation of perpetrators.The fact that the killing was purportedly a mistake, in
Pistorius' account, "does not in any way make the offence any less serious," Masipa said. She therefore sentenced him to 6 years imprisonment.
