Why Saraki, Dogara Visited PMB In London

About a week after Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker Yakubu Dogara announced to Nigerians that President Muhammadu Buhari had separately spoken with them on telephone, the two
presiding officers of the National Assembly have also visited the President in London. The visit coming after after similar visits by prominent Nigerians to see Buhari is a strategic one to in order to allay the fears of Nigerians on the President’s true state of health.Saraki and Dogara are said to be accompanied on the visit by majority leaders of the Senate and House of Representatives.
A credible source told LEADERSHIP that the latest visit was undertaken against the backdrop that the National Assembly will next Tuesday, February 21, 2017 resume plenary after three weeks of budget defence exercise by its standing committees.“They are in London because the National Assembly would soon resume plenary and this will afford them the opportunity to obtain first hand information (about the president) and also discuss matters of mutual interests between the Executive and the Legislature.“Remember, others who went there to the President have been doubted for no reason but with this visit by the leadership of the National Assembly, it is unlikely that there will be doubt again (about the President’s health),” the source said.Meanwhile, LEADERSHIP learnt that immediately after the parley between Bihari and the NASS leaders, a statement is expected to be issued from the office of the Senate President.LEADERSHIP also recalls that last week Wednesday and Thursday, Saraki and Dogara respectively announced their conversation with Buhari through Tweeter handles.
