  •  Court orders banks to freeze Sule Lamido, Jigawa state, council’s accounts
A Federal High Court sitting in Dutse, Jigawa State,  has directed all the commercial banks operating in the state to freeze accounts bearing the names of Governor Sule Lamido, Birnin-Kudu Local Government and the Jigawa State Government with immediate effect.   • Gov candidate denies embezzling N400m
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Enugu State, Mr. Okey Ezea, on Monday, denied allegations that he embezzled about N400m meant for the campaign of President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, in the state. The alleged embezzlement had been cited as one of the reasons behind the party’s poor outing in the 2015 general elections in Enugu State.   • ASUU demands unconditional release of kidnapped lecturer
The Academic Staff Union of Universities at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State, has called for the unconditional release of Dr. Femi Omisore of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, who was abducted by some gunmen in Ado Ekiti on Friday. The Chairman of ASUU, OAU chapter, Dr. Caleb Aborisade, in a telephone interview with our correspondent in Osogbo, said members of the union made the call after an emergency congress on Monday.   • NLC Calls For Investigation Into Burnt P/Harcourt Office
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has directed its River State Council to invite the police to do a thorough investigation into the fire incident that gutted its Port Harcourt office.
The union in a statement by its General Secretary, Dr. Peter Ozo-Eson stated that invaluable documents and materials were destroyed in the fire.   • Rivers Assembly suspends 3 LG chairmen
Rivers State House of Assembly has suspended three local government areas’ caretaker committee chairmen. The chairmen were Cassidy Ikegbidi (Ahoada East), Ojukaye Flag-Amachree (Asari-Toru) and Derick Mene (Khana). It has also set up an ad-hoc committee to investigate the activities of the affected chairmen. It was gathered that the suspension of the chairmen bordered on insecurity and financial mismanagement.  Read More From Sun
