Five Die As Port Harcourt NPA Warehouse Collapses

At least, five persons were feared killed when a warehouse in Area A of the Nigerian Ports Authority in Port Harcourt collapsed. The incident, which happened at about 5pm on Saturday, was said to have
caused confusion within the NPA in the Rivers State. It was learnt that the warehouse was an old facility used in storing Dangote salt.An NPA worker told our correspondent that five persons were

found in the rubble after a search was conducted a few minutes after the collapse.“It happened yesterday (Saturday) around 5pm and five persons, who were trapped in the rubble, were found dead,” the source said.Another source, who is also a worker in the NPA, Area A, explained that those affected as a result of the incident were not inside the warehouse when the walls caved in.The source, who preferred not to be named, pointed out that the walls fell and affected the bathroom and toilet close to the warehouse.“Those that died were around the bathroom and toilet area and the walls that fell affected them. Their bodies were found when the people began to open up blocks and search the rubble,” the source added.Several efforts made to speak with any official of the NPA in Port Harcourt proved futile.
