Fire Razed Gov. Dickson House In Bayelsa

The private home of the Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, on Opolo Road, Yenagoa, caught fire on Thursday. The fire was said to have started in a room in the two-storey building.
It was, however, gathered that the quick intervention of men of the state fire service and security operatives guarding the premises saved the fire from spreading to other parts of the building.
The cause of the fire could not be ascertained as our correspondent was not allowed into the premises. It was, however,
gathered that the fire was successfully put out around 2pm by firefighters who had initially responded with three trucks. When our correspondent got to the scene, about three firefighters’ trucks were on hand to fight the fire. A large number of riot policemen were also seen on ground. The security personnel did not allow people, except government officials and security operatives, into the premises. They also prevented people from taking pictures of the building.
One of the riot policemen said, “It is for security reason.' It was gathered that the governor, Dickson, was away on official assignment to Abuja.
