Hoodlums Storm Rivers Hospital, Kill Two

A group of unknown assailants on Thursday, stormed the Government Primary Health Centre, located on Port Johnson Street in Borokiri, Port Harcourt, killing two civilian security guards manning the gate of the health centre. The bandits suspected to be assassins were said to have struck early morning with cutlasses. The two private security men, Messrs Tom Adoki and Dabelema Ada, who were killed by the hoodlums, were taken unawares as they were said to have been sleeping in the
security room, It was gathered that the armed men had collected mobile phones from those at the health centre and some neighbours within, a situation that made it difficult for anybody to alert the police as the incident was going on. Sympathisers, who had rushed into the premises of the health centre to see what happened after the hoodlums had left were shocked to see the victims in a pool of their own blood with two of them already dead.“They (hoodlum) came in the morning and entered the place. The way they moved in with dangerous weapons, some of us suspected that something was wrong. It was after they left that we noticed that three persons were attacked. “Two security guards died during the attack. It appears as if the security men were caught unawares, because there was no sign of any struggle with their attackers,” a resident of the area, who preferred anonymity, said. When contacted, the State Police Public Relations, Mr. Ahmad Mohammad, said he would get back to our correspondent over the incident after contacting the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area.
