Emmanuel Onwe announced th government decision while briefing journalists in Abakaliki. The Comr stated that decision by the state Gov Chief David Nweze Umahi to abolish the passenger manifest was in recognition of the economic hardship in the country which has touched the lives of
every citizen of the state, he explained further that Gov Umahi was interested in the well being of the people which was why he urged all commercial vehicle operators in the state to revert to the old
transportation fares to alleviate the plight of the citizens. The state government has also directed that all increment on taxes payable in the state should be reversed immediately on the old rate. Sen Onwe also renewed the government warning to all revenue agents who use force and violence in the collection of rates and lavies to stop forthwith or be made to face punitive action. Sen Onwe explained that Gov David Nweze Umahi was fully aware of the painful economic challenges confronting the citizens and resolved to improve the welfare of the masses by engaging in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of all roads in the state capital and provide other basic amenities to make their lives better.
