New Edo University Takes Off With 500 Students

The new Edo University at Iyamho in Estako West local government area of the state has taken off with 500 students.The state’s Commissioner for Education, Gideon Obhakhan, disclosed this when he
appeared before members of the Edo State House of Assembly.Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor of the University of Benin had earlier been appointed as pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the institution.The
lawmakers had on April 20 summoned the Commissioners for Finance, Education, Environment, Public Utility, and Housing and Urban Development to appear before them to explain financial involvement of their ministries in the establishment of the university.Obhakhan told the lawmakers that structures were already on ground for smooth take off of the university.“My speaker, we are happy to inform you that the school has taken- off with all infrastructures in place. I cannot give the financial implication of the work done.
